What an insightful thread.
No wonder many Koreans have Chinese surnames,their ancestors migrated from China proper sometime ago.My Korean high school classmates once told me,they are related to Chinese and Japanese like a disfunctional family as they put it.

I didnt relise their was a set limit on names, I mean its easy enough, at least in the west, to get it officially changed to something unique then that name can be spread by a large following family and boom, new surname.
