By pointing at things and saying the name.I doubt that will work with chinese since chinese is tonal
You obviously have no idea how infants learn language. They're prewired to pick up language; you don't have to teach it to them.
but..We usually talk English around the 1 year old.So, I will just talk Chinese around her.
And your degree of Chinese proficiency is what, exactly?
I think I am still a begenner even though I know 7 characters and know 10 words
Hmm, I doubt he'll become proficient in Chinese with only those 10 words If your pronounciation is bad, all is for naught!
Oh, don't judge yourself so harshly. That's like at least intermediate.Originally Posted by justin9213

Send her to China... or pay the cooks at your local chinese restaurant to baby sit her.
Hahaha, that's the wackiest idea so far !
Not nearly as funny as thinking you're going to teach a toddler a language you only know 10 words of yourself.
Wait until she is 6 years old or so and then make her learn with Rosetta Stone Mandarin.
Actually I saw a report where white people in the states hire Mandarin speaking nannies.Originally Posted by Kakulin

But it would be better if he hires the chinese cooks instead because that way his daugher will learn both, mandarin and cooking.Originally Posted by Minty
