Description: A Chinka bridge on the Shimanto River in Kochi Prefecture. The bridge is made without railings and square corners so as to resist the damage the high water pressure of a flood can bring. The Chinka-bashi are a big tourist attraction for people from all over Japan.

Description: A bridge known as a chinka-bashi over the Shimanto River in Kochi Prefecture. Due to the dangers of high water, the bridge is made without rails or square endges that could be damaged by a fast flowing flood. The bridge is wide enough for one car.
