    The return of SARS

China has reported several cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome, SARS, one year after declaring victory over the disease. The news comes on the heels of a new study that suggests that SARS might spread through the air. Troubling though these developments are, in some ways they are encouraging. China's readiness to reveal the new cases indicates that Beijing has learned its lessons: covering up cases is not possible.

The study results provide a new understanding of how the disease is transmitted. With that knowledge, health officials will be better able to prevent and respond to future outbreaks.

It was easy to forsee this event...
last december I was telling a friend that these kind of diseases usually stop to spread during colder seasons and when summer comes again...
Beside I'm close to someone working for a special section in HK and she told me there were lot of hidden details like the true number of ill persons and so...
One of the most adventurous things left for us is to go to bed. For no one can lay a hand on our dreams....

my school offered an exchange trip to japan last year, but my mom wouldn't let me go because of the SARS scare. i didn't exactly understand what was going on, since no one seemed to know much about it other that it was in asia mostly.

Well...China tends to fear for its economy since it's still developping.
If other countries were to know the real numbers they'd ask all their citizens to return and the industry would cease to work.
Beside there'd be no more tourism which means less money for the governement.
To my mind China wanna show that it's a strong country, able to handle this disease without problem.
