    Just wondering.

I'm tall enough that I owe my present hair loss to my having scraped it all off on these here doorways in this land of shorter people. hee, hee, hee....

I now stand at around 189.?? cm. When I had first arrived here in Japan, to be best of my recollection, I had leveled off at 190.3 cm. (that's what hair loss does for a person...makes them a little shorter...hee, hee, hee....)

I'm 5'6, or 165cm tall, which is basically average height for my age and gender . For a long time when i was a little kid i used to be the tallest in my class all the time, i really hated it, but thankfully as i got older my growth slowed down and everyone else started to grow more, and i eventually i ended up with an average height which is really nice .

I'm sorry...I simply can't do that anymore, but I'm sure it's at six feet and a hair or two.

ps. I merged this into the older thread. (Thanks for that bump, Uncle Frank!!)

    Haha, I've become a midget.

    I'm barely 158 cm. :]

But whatever. Good things come in small packages (and tall ones too, just so I don't get...squashed).

I'm 168 cm (5'6"). Considering I'm 75% Japanese blood, this shouldn't be too surprising that I'm on the short side.

I used to be way, way shorter than everyone else though (like a full head shorter).

P.S. I prefer the metric system. Easy conversion of units = win.

    183.

I'm just as tall as I like to be.

I have never thought that I wanted to be any shorter or taller but in Japan though I found the doorways and seats in buses to be way too small.
And it was funny to see a basket ball team shorter than I was in train!

Inches and feet don't tell me anything. What am I then? 5'9 ..?

This current generation of Japanese is going to reverse the stereotype...

I have three-generation-old Japanese genes though, so I'm still affected by it.

Depending where you go get used to the idea of people constantly staring, rubber necking to get a look at you, and little kids running up to you and saying "oki".............

You maybe "normal" for Dutch but here you are going to be a giant. If you are thin it might be easier, however if you are stocky or big, you will stick out a lot more than you think.

I live in a prefecture with about 1.3 million people in it and I am willing to bet that out of those 1.3 million there are maybe 1,295,000 people that I am estimating here, that are shorter than I am. Actually I think I am being generous with that number, I would bet that there are less than 100 people that are taller than me.

Oh you and I are the same height. I also weigh about 115 kg as well.

    Are you a native Japanese?

Ow I'm not very large or anything, normal to little weight (about 80kg) for my height. I'm not at all muscular and for my height my shoulder width is pretty normal I believe.
We had to buy a suite with 5 people last time, only 2 (incl me) could wear a standard one. The other had to adjust the shoulder width smaller, or the total length longer.

The normal set for me was the kids staring up at me and saying: "nan senchi?! nan senchi?!"
And I'm 10 cm shorter than you guys!
