Actually gaijinalways never said anything in that post about "buying" property. He said that he would be able to "inherit" property, which is quite different.

He is referring to the process whereby his in-laws will legally adopt him, thereby giving him the same rights to inheritance, etc., that their blood children have by virtue of birth into the family. It's called "youshi" (—{Žq), and it's fairly common, especially in the countryside, where a family has only daughters and they want to keep the family "alive".
