Positive aspects of the product (pros): historically interesting, action and romantce combined, funny and serious at the same time
Cons: repetitive music, too platonic, slightly depressing ending

Rurouni Kenshin is one of the best anime for samurai and Japanese history lovers. The story takes places in the Bakumastu period and early years of Meiji, when the last samurai army overthrew the Tokugawa government and establish a modern, Western-like government. The atmosphere of Meiji is that of a changing world, of the traditional Japan of geisha and samurai mixing with modern military and politicians, of shrines and legends, but also of science and technology. The anime stars several historical figures such as Yamagata Aritomo or Okubo Toshimichi, although it is mainly fictional.

I paticularily like the first 20 episodes, which are shorter stories, often more funny or romantic, and tell us about historical events such as the launch of the first steam train between Shimbashi and Yokohama.

The episodes with Shishio Makoto concentrate on one-to-one fights and tend to drag on a bit too long, although some combats reveal some psychologically interesting events.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

Rurouni Kenshin is my all time favorite Anime to this day. I'm not an expert on Anime, but as fan,I would defenetily reccomend this anime to everyone, since it has something for everybody. THis is the powerful story of a former most formidable assasin employed by the ishin shishi, the revolutionary group in Japan that wanted to install the Emperor as head of the country, during the Bakumatsu. Ten years later, Himura Kenshin, known with the infamous nickname Battousai, after wandering all this time throughout Japan helping weak and innocent people in order to atone for the countless he has killed during the Bakumatsu,is found in Tokyo by a girl who owns a local dojo. One thing leads to another, and Kenshin stays in the dojo as a temporary residence and along the way he makes more friends and they become a sort of a small gang, the Kenshin Gumi. The anime explores the depth and inner struggles of many interesting and troubling charaters, starting from Kenshin and his continous fight to battle his dark alter ego, Battousai. During the group's adventures throught the series, Kenshin is called many times to protect the weak and the innocent and sacrifice himself in ardous sword battles, which risk bringing Battousai back to the surface, in order to protect the country he has already given so much for. In my opion the climax of the series is the Kyoto Arch, where Kenshin must face another formidable assasin of the ishin shishi during the Bakumatsu, Shishio Makoto, who now plans to overthrow the Government and way of life that Kenshin fought so hard to achieve. This is the ultimate showdown and test between the two top assasins in the Bakumatsu that after 10 years find themselves on completely opposide sides. After the Kyoto Arch the series declines into a more mellow atmosphere and conludes nicely at episode 95.
Rurouni Kenshin has all the elements necessary that make up a great anime. A captivating story, in depth character involvement, an interesting plot, and a nice backround based on real historical settings and facts. The music in Kenshin is also quite good, with many many nice songs that really help the story surface as it should. The series can be only outdone by the OVA, a four episode release showing the begining of Kenshin's career as an assasin.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Cool characters, Good Storyline.
Cons: None

Rurouni Kenshin is definitely one of the greatest Samurai anime/manga around. It is perfect. It has regret, sorrow, romance, and action. It's not the absolute best, but I definitely recommend it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Samurai Anime, Great Setting
Cons: A little long winded after episode 20

Yeah, i agree with everyone here. Its a really good anime, and I enjoy it. The one thing, I cant understand though, is why does it seem to drag on with the fght scenes in the latter episodes.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): funny, romantic, action and educative!!!!!
Cons: Nil, I love it

Rurouni Kenshin is something that one must watch or read (manga) especially if you hate history. This is such a funny yet eduacative show that you must watch.
warning: I am only talking about the shows. The first movie, (X) is very bloody, but very dramatic and romantic. But it is a very good movie.
