Satsuma ŽF–€

Feudal Daimyo domain located in present-day Kagoshima prefecture, South-Western Kyushu.

Samurai from Satsuma and Choshu led the 1867 rebellion against the Tokugawa Shogunate, and restore the Imperial institution.

Famous samurai from Satsuma who later became Meiji statesmen include Okubo Toshimichi (1830-1878) and Saigo Takamori (1827-1877).

Nowadays, Satsuma is famous for its sweet potatoes ("satsuma-imo"), satsuma mandarines and sweet soy sauce.
